FAQs
How does solar pv work? Once your solar panels have been installed, they are linked to the fuseboard inside your property. When the sun is shining, your solar panels are producing electricity, this power is then used to power your home. It really is that simple.
How long does the installation take?
On average we find that 3-4 days is how long the installation will take from start to finish.
What does the Solar PV installation involve?
This will start with a site visit where we will discuss your needs and the layout of your property and tailor the installation to suit these requirements.
Once this has been agreed, we will book for the scaffolding to be erected the week before our electricians are due to start on site.
Next, depending on your roof covering, either our electricians or our roofing contractor will attend site to install the roof hooks, these hooks are screwed into your roof construction and are what your solar system will be fixed to, the next step is to install the rails and mount the solar panels onto them. This is the completion of the ‘on roof’ works.
Now the ‘internal’ electrical installation will begin, this is where our electricians will connect your solar system into the fuse board within your property. This involes running cables from the solar panels on your roof to the inverter and battery storage unit, which will generally be located inside your property either in the garage, loft or an unused cupboard. The inverter is then linked into your fuse board, much like the National Grid, which will allow you to power your home from your solar panels.
Finally, the system will be commissioned and we will issue you your MCS certificate, NICEIC certificate and notify the DNO of your installation.
